With a nasal Pommie accent: "Well I think the answer lies in the soil"
Arthur Fallowfield should have a statue erected on a piece of beautiful English farmland with that epitaph to read: “The Answer lies in the Soil”
OR “Here lies a fallow-field for Arthur Fallowfield”
When asked ANY question in that magnificent BBC radio series “Beyond Our Ken” (1958 to 1964 – the wonderful invention of comedian Kenneth William), the answer he always gave was “Well I think the Answer Lies in the Soil”
I happen to agree with Arthur, even though like me he had no real experience of farming!!
Off to the data…on a couple of big staple foodstuffs….where… the answer lies in the soil (and the fertiliser, and fossil fuels, etc!)
